Good morning Beth,
I wanted to congratulate Rich on his ‘hard earned victory’ over Wanderlei Silva. After all the hard work of training is done, it must be very rewarding to get the win. Especially over another accomplished fighter in Silva. And also the hard work of those closest and around him who keep the machine going. They too deserve alot of credit. Hopefully, now you and Rich can have some time to sit back, relax, eat, drink, be merry and enjoy some quiet family time. It probably won’t be too long before the next thing comes.
Anyway, GREAT JOB Rich!
Take care and have a great day!
Mike S.

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Franklin,
I’ve been a long time fan of Mr. Franklin, his fights and thoughts are inspiring. I work with youth in foster care, and they have to fight against so much, bad family decisions, a crappy past, instability in their home life, and so much more that most of us take for granted. I’m always even more motivated to serve them when I get a hit and run or Equation in the email.
Great fight against Mr. Silva, that was an instant classic Also, great work as a talking head on ESPN yesterday.
Ever Striving
Aaron

Hi, i wrote a while earlier in regard to a question about brain injury and mma. I was curious if rich thinks that being a mma fighter can lead to potential brain injury in the future, such as parkinsons or things of this nature..I train in BJJ and muay thai and have always wondered if top level fighters ponder this thought..and also, beth franklin is one of the most beautiful women i have ever seen…no joke..lol.

I’m just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy watching Mr. Franklin fight and that the respect he always shows is wonderful to see. I wish more fighters showed as much class and respect as Mr. Franklin does, it would make the sport raise to a new level if they did!
Sincerely, Troy Pettyjohn

Immediately after leaving the octagon, I return to my locker room and isolate myself with my team for a few minutes. My adrenaline begins to wear off at this point and the pain sets in. If needed, I begin to situate myself with ice and then open the doors to let the press in. They usually interview me while I am icing.
After icing for 15 minutes or so, I go to see the athletic commission and do my urinalysis. From there we head up to the press conference… unless I have to go to the hospital for some sort of examination.
By the time we leave the hospital or press conference it is usually 3 or 4 in the morning. The “Post Fight” party continues with room service in my hotel room with my team. This is the exciting life of a “Superstar”

Dear Beth,
Congratulations on your husband’s superb victory over Wanderlei. It was
an outstanding win in which Rich displayed tremendous heart!
My wife and I agree that not only is Rich a top-notch, world class
fighter; more importantly, he appears to be a world class man. Again,
congrats on his win!

My mental preparation on fight day begins in my hotel room before I go to the arena. Don’t ask me why, but I always clean my room. It helps me to start feeling organized and ready for the day. Maybe the line of thinking is that if everything is in place in my room, everything will fall into place later in the day as well….
Unlike most fighters who listen to music to get pumped up before a fight, music is not used as motivation for me. I spend the first portion of time in my locker room keeping my mind off the fight. I don’t want to peak too soon in the day.
As the fight begins to approach, I do visualization exercises. I picture myself going through the fight, executing the drills we have worked on. My mental conditioning coach (Brian Cain) gave me audio tracks of locker room sounds and arena sounds during the fight…including introductions by Bruce Buffer.
These things make up my fight day ritual.
